GuitUp is the maker of the Easy Hanger, the first wall-mounted guitar hanger that installs without drills, screws, anchors, or any damage to your walls. The company was founded to solve a problem every guitar owner who rents, who has plaster walls, or who simply doesn't want holes drilled into their home has faced for decades: how do you display an instrument you love without destroying the wall behind it?

The guitar that started it all

For me, the GuitUp holds one of my most cherished possessions: my mom's circa-1973 Yamaki acoustic dreadnought.

One of my favorite childhood memories is curling up on the sofa, watching and listening as she strummed that Yamaki and sang covers of John Denver, Linda Ronstadt, the Carpenters, and the Beatles. Those songs, mixed with her laugh, were the soundtrack of my childhood.

The Yamaki and my mom are both still here. When I got interested in learning to play, she handed the guitar over for "safekeeping." For the next 20 years, it lived under a bed, on a floor stand, propped against furniture, and in a handful of other places that weren't actually safe.

I wanted it on the wall. Every guitar hanger I could find required anchor bolts and big holes in the drywall. My landlords weren't fans of that idea. Neither was I.

Why the Easy Hanger exists
