Frequently Asked Questions
What is the GuitUp Easy Hanger and how does it work?
The GuitUp Easy Hanger is a wall-mounted instrument hanger that installs with no power tools and no large anchor holes. It holds your guitar with a metal hook supported by adhesive mounting squares, so installation takes about five minutes start to finish.
It's built for renters and dorm residents who can't drill into their walls, for anyone who's never touched a power drill, and for homeowners who'd just rather not patch big holes later. It fits acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, classical guitars, ukuleles, mandolins, banjos, and violins. If it has a headstock, the GuitUp can hold it.
Does the GuitUp damage my walls?
The hook makes one small pin-sized hole, about the size of a standard picture-hook nail. The adhesive mounting squares hold the hanger flat and peel away cleanly when you remove them. There's no drilling and no large anchor holes like traditional guitar hangers need. When you take it down, the small hook hole fills with spackle in seconds and paints over.
Can I use the GuitUp in a rental apartment or dorm?
Yes. We designed it for exactly that. The only mark it leaves is one small hole, similar to hanging a picture frame. Most leases allow small nail and pin holes, but check yours to be sure. Everything fills and paints over easily when you move out.
What walls does the GuitUp work on?
Clean, flat, finished interior walls: painted drywall, finished plaster, finished wood, and most smooth painted surfaces. It won't bond well to brick, unfinished concrete, textured stucco, or wallpaper. If your paint is fresh, let it cure for at least 30 days before installing.
I'm moving. How do I remove my GuitUp?
The GuitUp comes off and reinstalls in your new place. First, remove the adhesive squares: place your hands on the bottom edges, then slowly rock it back and forth while pushing up until the mounting squares release. A non-sharp object like a letter opener slid behind the hanger helps ease them off, and a warm hair dryer pointed at the square softens the adhesive. Then pull the hook from the wall and fill the small hole with spackle.
We included extra mounting squares in your original box, so if you can remember which drawer you tossed them in, use those to reinstall. Need more? Contact us, and we'll get you sorted.
Can I hang the GuitUp using a hole that's already in my wall?
We'd recommend against it. The GuitUp installs best in a fresh spot where the hook and the adhesive squares can both seat properly. An existing hole can keep the hook from sitting securely.
Is the metal hook strong enough to hold my guitar?
Yes. The hook carries the instrument's weight and the adhesive squares stabilize the hanger against the wall. We tested this design for years with our own cherished instruments before we sold a single unit. Installed as directed, your GuitUp will do its job for years.
What instruments fit on the GuitUp Easy Hanger?
Acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, classical guitars, ukuleles, mandolins, banjos, and violins. Any stringed instrument with a standard headstock works.
